2019 – 3rd GENERATION IN THE COMPANY AND TWC INVOLVEMENT

2019 – 3rd GENERATION IN THE COMPANY AND TWC INVOLVEMENT

With Laurenz Feierabend (17), son of Thomas Feierabend, the 3rd generation will join the company starting September 2019. Laurenz will complete a 3 ½ year apprenticeship as a car mechatronics technician and support the involvement in motorsport. In addition to the numerous vintage car events in which “the Feierabends” will participate again this year, Team Feierabend is also involved in historic racing, including the TWC (“Tourenwagen Classics”) series with up to 3 former DTM BMW cars.

The team is supported by former racing professional Kris Nissen, who can look back on many years of successful racing and is familiar with the cars from the early days of the DTM at the end of the 1980s.

End of the season – 2019

At the end of the past season 2019, we are proud to share a respectable 3rd overall place in the TWC championship standings with Kris Nissen. With his driving skills and technical experience, we were quickly able to catch up in the group and put the new knowledge into practice.

Inspired by this success, we will “attack” again in 2020. The vehicles will be prepared by our experienced staff in-house and very soon, the 2020 season will kick off with the first tests. The first race will take place at Hockenheim in April.

Kris Nissen will be driving the BMW M3/E30 Group A (DTM) again this year in the design of the former sponsor TicTac. Thomas Feierabend will be driving the former “Werkswagen” BMW M3/E30 Group A (DTM), which was driven by Eric van de Poele, among others, in 1987 when he won the German championships.

Laurenz Feierabend is scheduled to make his first race appearance in an original Group N BMW E36 with FINA advertising.

2010 – BEIJING-PARIS RALLY

The next highlight was participation in the Beijing-Paris rally in 2010, where Thomas Feierabend and Gerd Bühler took third place in their class with a 150 hp Lagonda LG45 from 1936. A corresponding number of trophies adorn the company premises in Würzburg today. Each of these trophies tells a story in which nostalgia, the smell of gasoline and rubber and a vehicle from the house after work play a key role.

After the restoration of his first Fiat Balilla in the early 1960s, Helmut Feierabend presented the results of his work at numerous classic car meetings. In the years that followed, he and later his son Thomas Feierabend took part in numerous races just as successfully, such as the Oldtimer Grand Prix Nürburgring, the Grand Prix Historique Monaco and Le Mans. A very special highlight was the participation in the Monterey Historic Races in Laguna Seca, California in 1996.

1990 – THE NEXT GENERATION: THOMAS FEIERABEND

1990 – THE NEXT GENERATION: THOMAS FEIERABEND

When Thomas Feierabend was born in 1967, his father’s classic car workshop was already flourishing. Another course was set later: In 1984, Thomas Feierabend began an apprenticeship as a car mechanic in his father’s company. In 1989 he refined his skills during a year-long stay in the USA. These international experiences broadened his horizons considerably and created the best conditions for the next groundbreaking step: he joined his father’s company in 1990. At the beginning of 60, Helmut Feierabend completely retired from management and Thomas Feierabend took his place.

1989/1990 – REUNION OF THE AUTOMOBILE ART.

1989/1990 – REUNION OF THE AUTOMOBILE ART.

Paul Greifzu from Suhl was an extremely successful private racing driver in the pre- and post-war period, who had achieved a large part of his considerable success with the BMW 328. It was also important that Paul Greifzu had a BMW agency and a small machine factory in Suhl, which, among other things, produced spare parts and components for BMW.

The precision engineering workshop proved to be economically unsustainable in the turbulent post-reunification period. But Helmut Feierabend took over the production facility, the original machines – and two long-term employees who proved to be true experts in dealing with the old technology.
