BMW 328 Roadster
Year of construction:
The BMW 328 is considered one of the best sports cars of its time and still impresses today with its modern driving characteristics and performance data. The car, which was produced in 464 units, was extremely successful in motorsport before and after the war. In addition to the factory roadster, racing models with aerodynamic lightweight bodies as well as special models with luxurious convertible bodies were produced by renowned coachbuilders based on the lightweight tubular frame. Alongside the BMW 507 and the BMW M1, the BMW 328 is considered one of the most sought-after BMW models and is one of the most remarkable car models of all time.
This car was delivered to Breslau in 1940. In 1972, a previous owner from Munich acquired the car from Sweden and had it completely restored. During this work, the car was fitted with a more powerful Bristol engine. The conversion to the more powerful engine meant that the car now had approx. 85 hp. In addition, the original gearbox with the original bell, which is included in the sales price, was replaced by a Mercedes Benz W111 gearbox. The present owner acquired the car in 1981 with a mileage of approx. 15,000 km and has had regular service and maintenance work carried out since then. The car has given the present owner much pleasure.
From the years 1981 to 1995 this car participated successfully in various races/rallies, among others in Germany at the Nürburgring, the Klausenrennen and the Große Alpenfahrt of the DAVC (several times), as well as in Italy at the Mille Miglia 1991 and 1992 (here a very good placing in the overall standings was achieved) and the Gran Premio Nuvolari (Sicily). The last time this BMW 328 was used was in 2019.
